Position Summary:

This position supports the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance’s (DCHA), Office of Food for Peace (FFP) which manages emergency and development food assistance projects.

The Program Assistant/Budget will provide support to the Budget and Finance Team in the Operations Division. Candidates should have an understanding of the work of FFP and USAID. Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and presentations for Senior Management.

Day to day work assignments and oversight will be provided by the Operations Division Chief or Budget Team Leader with formal supervisory and evaluation functions by the Project Manager.

Essential Functions

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Program Tracker Support
    • Record, track, analyze and report on expenditures for all cost categories by year, country, implementing partner, program and contribution
    • Follow up on missing/incomplete information required for program tracker
    • Assist with regular reconciliations of program trackers
  • Non-program Related Budget and Expense Tracking
    • Assist in the development of a Non-Program related tracker
    • Record, track, analyze and report on expenditures for all non-program related expenses
    • Follow up on missing/incomplete information
    • Assist with regular reconciliations of program trackers
  • Budget Summary Report Support
    • Assist in drafting of the Budget Summary Report
  • Budget and Financial Reporting Support
    • Assist in drafting reports on budgetary and financial status

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, International Affairs or a related field, with 1-4 years of experience.

Required Skills:

Must have exceptional Excel skills and facility with MS Office and Google suite. Excellent quantitative, writing, editing, and communication skills required. Must be able to meet deadlines and multitask, have strong attention to detail, and work well with others in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

U.S. Citizenship is required; selected candidate must be able to qualify for a government sponsored security clearance.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
