Training Coordinator

Macfadden, a PAE company, is seeking a Training Coordinator to support USAID's Office of Conflict Management and Mitigation (CMM). The Training Coordinator will be primarily responsible for developing and managing training courses, assisting in developing curriculum, providing support on curriculum revisions processes, developing a cadre of facilitators, and maintaining quality control of CMM training courses. The Training Coordinator will also be responsible for tracking opportunities for CMM staff’s own learning and professional development needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert on Democracy Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA)/Conflict Management and Mitigation (CMM)’s suite of trainings and serves as a trainer and facilitator.
  • Maintains expertise in state-of-the-art training pedagogy as well as conflict sensitive development programming.
  • Support the curriculum design and course delivery of CMM’s suite of trainings, including CSAid, ACA, PfP and relevant Training-of-Trainers courses, administer ed under the (Programming Effectively Against Conflict and Extremism) PEACE IDIQ.
  • Provides strategic coordination for DCHA/CMM’s current suite of training courses, curriculum development, maintenance of a community of practice, and targeted outreach to promote uptake of training and other related activities by USAID staff.
  • Support procurement and monitoring of training activities, including serving as an activity manager, tracking expenditures, and maintaining working relationships with contractors.
  • Observe and provide guidance to staff on their training facilitation.
  • Set standards and oversee quality control criteria for course design and delivery.
  • Develops annual/multi-year plans for the Training Team, tracks and assesses training and cadre development needs, and advises on the allocation of DCHA/CMM resources to meet these demands, including new procurements and funding requests.
  • As requested, aggregate, analyze and disseminate lessons-learned -- to and from CMM, USAID bureaus, USAID missions, and the broader development community – relevant to further improve training, other blended learning, and CMM staff development methods.
  • Liaise with other stakeholders involved in training and professional development to include other DCHA offices; other USAID bureaus and offices, USAID missions, Other U.S. Government (USG) Agencies, and non-USG organizations and institutes.
  • Travel to USAID Missions located internationally for training needs assessment, curriculum development, and in-person training delivery. Travel will occur approximately three (3) times within the calendar year, each with an average duration of 10-14 days.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of six to eight years of professional experience in adult education and peacebuilding or conflict mitigation.
  • Education: The position requires a master’s or bachelor’s degree in a field related to one or more of the following: adult education, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, or international development.
  • Knowledge of conflict mitigation or peace-building is preferred.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in peacebuilding and conflict mitigation/management, training design and facilitation, project management, and organizational development.
  • Demonstrated skills in oral presentation and facilitation and experience in designing and delivering courses on conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding, including experience with multicultural audiences.
  • Must be results-oriented and a team player and have demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Preference for candidates with experience collating divergent opinions on technical matters and working towards a beneficial solution.

U.S. Citizenship is required; selected candidate must be able to qualify for a government sponsored Facilities Access Clearance.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
