Position Summary:
Macfadden is seeking a Risk Mitigation Assistant to support the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA). Specifically, the Risk Mitigation Assistant will support USAID/OFDA’s Risk Mitigation Advisor on the Middle East Crisis Humanitarian Response (MECHR) Response Management Team.
Working in the complex crises environments of Syria and Iraq is challenging due to insecurity, lack of direct access for U.S. Government (USG) personnel, and the presence of armed groups subject to U.S. and international sanctions. Due to the complexity of this response, audits and reviews are conducted regularly by USAID’s Inspector General and Government Accountability Office to ensure that federal funds are being spent efficiently and according to government guidelines and policies. The Risk Mitigation Assistant will provide administrative support to the Risk Mitigation Advisor, who assists in the development, strengthenining, and implementation of processes and procedures to ensure consistent compliance with USAID and USG requirements for the complex crises Syria and Iraq.
Key Accountabilities:
- Drafts, proofreads, and edits correspondence; produces other documents such as instructions, spreadsheets, presentations, and reports; maintains and updates databases or spreadsheets.
- Tasks may include tracking official and TDY staff movements, maintaining electronic and paper files, ensuring the accuracy of team calendars, creating and updating electronic distribution lists, and providing general office support as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Provides administrative support to the Risk Mitigation Advisor.
- Maintains a schedule of appointments; monitors e-mail and telephones of manager(s) as requested; makes travel arrangements for managers as requested.
- Coordinates and/or participates in the scheduling, organizing, and execution of meetings, conferences, and off-site events.
- Participates in meetings and events: serving as recorder or working member of group, and may brief or present administrative support related information.
- Prepares weekly status reports of action items and completion of tasks related to the execution of a program, process, or transaction.
- Manages special projects and ad hoc requests, as assigned by the managers supported.
- Evaluates, proposes, and/or implements innovative and/or new administrative processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of support administration.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree.
Required Experience:
- 2 years of administrative experience.
Required Skills:
- Strong communication, facilitation, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organization capabilities, able to track multiple competing priorities at once and see projects through to completion.
- Capable of working independently and in a team environment
- Computer proficiency required to include strong applied knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google applications.
- Must have exceptional quantitative, writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and multitask, have strong attention to detail, and work well with others in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
U.S. Citizenship is required; selected candidate must be able to qualify for a government sponsored security clearance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
