Position Summary:

Key Internal Interfaces: KMLU, OFDA Africa Division

Key External Interfaces: Other OFDA Divisions

Macfadden is seeking a Knowledge Management Specialist (KMS) to support the United States Agency for International Development Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA). The KMS will support the Africa Division’s Knowledge Management Unit (KMLU), serving as a technical advisor on change management and the development of a learning agenda for the division.

Essential Functions:

  • Support identification of focus areas for organizing, streamlining, and standardizing USAID/OFDA’s Africa Division’s vision to achieve long-term strategy.
  • Conduct and/or facilitate research on identified areas for change; facilitate strategic dialogue to investigate new ideas and concepts.
  • Research means of capturing program and technical skills and expertise to strengthen leadership and professional staff development.
  • Develop and implement templates and systems to standardize communication, learning, and capacity development.
  • Determine success criteria to track progress toward desired outcomes.
  • Develop and communicate best practices for troubleshooting commonly and widely discussed issues USAID/OFDA Africa Division staff may encounter in daily work.
  • Support special projects, as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Experience:

8 years of experience if candidate holds a bachelor’s degree; 6 years of experience if candidate holds a master’s degree. Humanitarian and/or international experience required. Experience with institutional change management strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the methodologies and principles of change management.
  • Strong organization capabilities, able to track multiple competing priorities at once and see projects through to completion.
  • Computer proficiency required to include strong applied knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google applications.

U.S. Citizenship is required; selected candidate must be able to qualify for a government sponsored security clearance.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
